Hotel Anjajavy

Situated on an island so remote that eighty percent of its indigenous wildlife does not exist anywhere else on the planet, the Anjajavy luxury resort on Madagascar’s sunny northwest coast takes isolation to a different level. The area surrounding the hotel can be reached only by low-altitude airplanes that offer superb views. The Anjajavy is classified as a four-star and few hotels around the world can rival its location. Spread along the pure white beaches on the hotel’s own bay are twenty-five secluded and air-conditioned rosewood villas with thatched roofs. In addition to the bedroom and bathroom facilities, each villa comes with a lounge, a breakfast area and an upstairs guest room. Satellite telephones are available from the reception, so that totally exhausted bedfellows can spend their entire vacations relaxing in the hammock on the veranda outside their villa. As well as the pristine beaches, the tremendous swimming pool, and the restaurant providing excellent cuisine, the surroundings comprise an 1,111 -acre (450-ha) nature reserve that is home to 1,800 mostly indigenous floral species and animals such as lemurs, birds-of-paradise, and several types of chameleon. Lemurs also frolic in the hotel’s own oasis, a landscaped garden where vacationers can have some afternoon tea surrounded by the lush vegetation and the beautiful sounds of Madagascar’s wildlife.
